A few weeks ago, my hubby and I decided to take a little ride to Rockport, MA so we can help a local restaurant in TAKEOUT ONLY times (mandatory due to COVID), sit on a beach and enjoy the tranquility of the waves while eating our grub. It was a 75 degree day out and being near the water, it made the weather absolutely perfect. One of those days where you could wear a thin jacket and be comfortable.
For that day, I was feeling all the sun and wanted to portray that sunshiny vibe with my outfit. I wore lightweight denim overalls (is that what it’s called now or a jumper….I don’t know, either way I rocked it) from Forever21Plus http://www.forever21.com, with a tube top type bra but had to double up because that was a little see thru and I didn’t think it appropriate to show of my girls to a quaint little fishermen town like Rockport. I threw on my light, fun and color block jacket from MVGIRLRU, busted out with my colorful and funky platform shoes from YRU and my bright furry fanny pack both purchased from http://dollskill.com, added my teal dangly earrings that I actually got for free from another online purchase and topped it off with my pastel ombré sunnies from http://sunglassspot.com. The perfect outfit for the perfect day! Side note: all the restaurants were closed on Sunday, so no food, but we still enjoyed the scenery. What is your perfect day getaway?
For a fashionista like myself who loves to showcase her outfits to the world in places I go and visit, I have been limited in doing so (like we all have), especially with everything shut down because of C-Virus….except, the GREAT OUTDOORS! These last couple of days, it seems like loungewear is the new OOTD norm. But eff that// Imma still be me, with putting on my best dressed and a full face of makeup even if it means I am just taking a ride with my husband, talking and listening to our favorite jams, and of course stopping to take a few pics😉. No place to go but looking hella cute ya’ll** ~~Zip Up Jeans from FN, Pastel color-block sweater from Forever 21 and pastel rhinestone booties made by Cape Robbin (one of my fav brands) from Akira. Sunglasses from Sunglass Spot and bag from YSL~~ In a time of uncertainty, bringing some type of normalcy back into your routine will keep your minds at ease. I still want to showcase my styles and fashion inspo with you and I will continue to do so, regardless if it means I ain’t going anywhere lol Practicing social distancing at it’s best. Just MOI, my outfits, my hubby and our cameras, of course. Get dressed, put that makeup on and strut your stuff!! Check out this ‘Spring Isolation Finesse’ ensemble I put together!! And check out the kolor of the month for ALL that pastel flava……
Even though it is February (and almost March), we are full blown into winter in New England, and that doesn’t mean we can’t wear light colors; especially when they blend oh so well with each other. President’s weekend in MA, it was around 40 degrees where if you are from this area, you know that this is like summah for us lol. The perfect days to enjoy a Sunday visit to a museum or two and walk the eclectic grounds all while soaking up that winter sun. This makes for, IMO, the perfect winter day. Chilly but not unbearable. Cold but sun shining. I decided to wear a thin, off the shoulder sweater dress, well because it was going to be nice out and I wouldn’t be freezing my behind off. The dress I picked was the ‘Cuddled Up Tunic Sweater’ dress in heather blue (a lighter shade of baby blue) from FN, paired it with my over the knee wide calf sized dark gray boots from Torrid, accessorized it with a cream elastic chunky belt from Akira and topped it off with a long furry, oversized, mint jacket from Forever21 Plus and voilà…..you get a comfy and caj dressup for a cool Sunday afternoon. Check out my post on Trippin’ It with the Vegas’ for an in depth look at our staycation getaway!
Whose ready for Valentine’s (all couples), Galentine’s (gal pals) and Fralentines (any type of friend…yup I just made up that word up lol) Day? It almost seems like right after New Years, those chalky pastel heart shaped message candies stock the aisles at your local stores and everything is red and pink and hearts are sprinkled everywhere. Actually, two of my favorite colors are red and pink…..in 50 shades and more. And I love finding fun bright stuff to wear to get in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. My philosophy in my clothing and style is the brighter, bolder, and outrageous (to some, never to me), the better. Anything heart shaped I am all for….fashion glasses, jewelry, clothing whatever. If it has a heart on it, more than likely I am probably rocking it. Not only for this ‘love holiday’ but for anytime of the year actually. Red to me, screams sexy and flirty while pink shyly states fun and playful. Everything that VDay is all about, right? And how can you not get inspired with these colors when there are so many sales going on right now to get you in the spirit. Being a passionate fashionista, for me, it’s a double win win situation. I mean come on now! Check out this VDay fun look that I found on two of my favorite go-to spots, Fashion Nova, for this cute heart hoodie sweatshirt and these fun oversized heart glasses from Sunglass Spot. Also, make sure to check out my ‘Kolor Me Karla Series’ for the kolor of the month to get even more inspo! And whether it be for a romantic dinner out with the hubby, a night out with your favorite people or a movie night in your fav pajamas and wine with your gal pals, anytime spent with a loved one(s) is always fun, regardless the plans. So, Happy Valentines loves! XOXO Much love to you all……
‘Not Your Average Fashionista’
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved fashion. Always wanting to play pretty pretty princess with my mom’s makeup and clothing, I knew some day I would want to help women feel confident, sexy, classy and beautiful in what they were wearing. Growing up, I never conformed to any trend or style. It didn’t matter if it was name brand or a no name brand. To me, who cared. If I liked something, I wore it. Simple as that. One day, I could be in a blazer with jeans and a white tee with some mules on, the next I could be in Adidas shell toes, a hoodie and some oversized comfy as hell jeans. I had my own style and continue to pride in my own unique look. That is what fashion is about. Do you ever realize that fashion repeats itself? So it doesn’t matter if you are rockin’ your denim jacket and pant set outfit. Put it on, feel amazing in it and walk like you are on the goddamn runway. And if it is not the latest fashion ‘trend’, if you must, wait a couple of months, it will be. But does that even matter? I have some clothes that I used to wear in college, that I wear now. Wouldn’t you know that those are the most items I get complimented on? The point is FASHION is what you make it to be according to what you are comfortable in. There are so many things that society tells us to be like. How can we pride on individuality when we all dress and look the same? PSA alert….I am going to be THAT voice and tell you, if you have to think twice on a piece of clothing, DON’T! Just put it on and ROCK IT OUT! And strut your stuff in it! Sometimes, I wear the most craziest pieces, and people have told me, “I could never wear that. You have so much confidence.” Do you know what I tell those people? I ask them why couldn’t they wear that. Of course they can!! CONFIDENCE IS KEY. Fashion is what YOU want it to be and make it to be. Fashion is what aspires you and inspires you. Fashion is whatever the hell you want to wear. Fashion is uniquely YOU and has no boundaries. It is all about expressing who YOU are. So, if you feel beautiful in it, confident in it and amazing in it, THEN WEAR IT proudly!! And importantly, step out of your comfort zone and wear things you normally wouldn’t wear too. Your whole mood and outlook on clothes/style/trends will change and you will become even more confident!!
